Privacy Policy
Effective July 11, 2026 · applies to the Maestro iPhone and Apple Watch apps
Maestro collects no data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no servers of ours — everything the app learns stays on your devices and your home network.
What the app stores, and where
- Pointing model ("painted" gestures): the directions you teach Maestro are stored only on your Apple Watch. They never leave it, except in an export you explicitly trigger (see below).
- Room fingerprints: to recognize which room you're in, the watch briefly scans for nearby Bluetooth devices and stores signal strengths locally on the watch. These scans are never transmitted.
- Home Assistant credentials: if you connect a Home Assistant server, your sign-in tokens are stored in the device Keychain on your iPhone and Apple Watch, and used solely to talk to the server address you provided.
- Apple Home: if you use HomeKit, access is mediated entirely by iOS/watchOS. Maestro reads your accessory and room list and sends commands through Apple's HomeKit framework; we never see this data.
- Motion data: wrist motion is processed on the watch in real time to detect pointing and gestures. It is not recorded or transmitted.
Where commands go
When you snap, the command travels directly from your watch to your own Home Assistant server or through Apple HomeKit. No third party — including us — sits in that path. Maestro contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising frameworks, and makes no network connections other than to the home you configured.
Diagnostics you control
The watch app includes an optional "Export model data" action. It packages the pointing model and room fingerprints described above into a file and sends it to your iPhone, where it is yours: it goes only where you choose to share it. Nothing is exported automatically.
What we never do
- No accounts, sign-ups, or profiles with us
- No analytics, telemetry, or crash-reporting services
- No advertising or tracking of any kind
- No selling, sharing, or transferring of data — we never possess any
Health data
Maestro does not use HealthKit and does not read or write any health data. Background gesture detection uses a standard watchOS runtime session that does not record workouts or affect your Activity rings.
Children
Maestro is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, children included.
Changes
If Maestro's privacy practices ever change, this page will be updated before the change ships, with a new effective date.
